It’s not every day that a major streaming service gives its customers money back, but that’s exactly what’s happening with YouTube TV right now. In fact, there are two different credits available depending on your situation.
Credit #1: The Disney Channel Dispute
If you’ve noticed that channels like ABC or ESPN have suddenly vanished from your YouTube TV lineup, you’re not alone. More than 20 Disney-owned channels have been removed after contract negotiations between Google and Disney fell apart.
Each side is blaming the other.
- YouTube TV says Disney wants to raise prices and limit choices to push viewers toward its own services like Hulu + Live TV.
- Disney argues that Google is using its massive market share to demand unfair terms.
While the two companies argue, subscribers are the ones missing out. To help offset the inconvenience, YouTube TV announced that customers could receive a $20 credit if the dispute continues. It hasn’t been applied yet, but it’s something to keep an eye out for.
Credit #2: The Return Offer
The second deal is already active for certain users. If you recently paused or canceled your YouTube TV subscription, you might be eligible for $60 in credits spread over six months, which works out to $10 off per month.
You’ll need to activate this offer manually. Here’s how to check:
- Open YouTube TV on your computer.
- Go to Settings → Membership → Manage Plan.
- If you’re eligible, you’ll see an option to “Redeem your offer.”
Once redeemed, you’ll start saving $10 a month on your YouTube TV subscription, even if the Disney channels are still unavailable for now.
So whether you’re hanging in there or thinking about rejoining, it’s worth checking your account. You might have some extra savings waiting for you.
