Starting next week, you can use AirPods Pro 2 as a hearing aid! Apple first announced this feature in September, and it’s finally arriving.
With the new software update, you’ll be able to take a hearing test right from your AirPods Pro 2. It’s simple and convenient. Apple mentioned that 80% of adults in the U.S. haven’t had a hearing test in over five years, and honestly, many of us haven’t even thought about it. But now, with this update, there’s no reason to put it off.
You can do the test in just a few minutes. All you need is a quiet space to avoid distractions. Your phone will play different sounds through your AirPods at various volumes and frequencies, and you’ll tap the screen when you hear them. The test covers both ears and only takes a few minutes.
Once you finish, the results are saved in your phone’s Health app. You can share these results with your audiologist or keep them for future reference. You can even take the test regularly, like every 6-12 months, to track any changes.
But that’s not all—thanks to FDA approval, AirPods Pro 2 can also act as a personalized hearing aid. After the test, your AirPods will adjust to amplify the sounds you need most, such as conversations or environmental noises.
In addition to helping with hearing, the AirPods Pro 2 will also protect your ears by reducing exposure to loud or harmful sounds.
This update makes caring for your hearing easier than ever!
