iPhone users with the iOS 18.1 developer beta can now try out Apple Intelligence, Apple’s version of artificial intelligence.
Apple introduced their AI platform at their annual WWDC conference, showcasing many new features. However, not all of these features will be available when Apple Intelligence launches to the public later this year.
Apple is promoting AI as a key reason to upgrade to the iPhone 16, a challenge they’ve faced in recent years. The current iOS 18.1 features are limited but include improvements to Siri. Siri now activates with a glowing edge on the iPhone screen and has better understanding even if you don’t speak clearly.
New writing tools help create texts and other documents from simple prompts, which is useful for those who dislike drafting memos. Other features include AI summaries of emails and messages, more accurate photo searches, and improved automatic video creation.
Some features won’t be available at the iOS 18 launch but were shown at WWDC. These include creating custom images and emojis from prompts, automatic photo editing, and ChatGPT integration. More Siri enhancements are also expected.
Currently, these features are in beta, and we’ll learn more about what’s included in iOS 18 when it officially launches in the coming months.
