Foldable Phones are Back: Apple's Foldable iPhone and the Revival of Flip Phones

A few years ago, it seemed unlikely, but flip phones are making a comeback and becoming popular among smartphone users.

Foldable phones are now the trend, with models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, Google Pixel Fold, and the newly redesigned Motorola Razr leading the way.

One major player still missing from the foldable phone market is Apple. According to reports, Apple has been working on two different foldable designs. It seems they have now settled on one, known as the V68, which insiders believe is the upcoming foldable iPhone.

The V68 is expected to fold top-down, similar to the Motorola Razr+ and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, rather than opening like a book. Apple is addressing two main issues in the development phase: reducing the visible crease at the hinge, a common problem with foldable screens, and making the device as thin as possible, staying true to Apple’s obsession with sleek design.

Apple is reportedly aiming for a super-thin foldable iPhone, with a possible release in 2026, provided it meets all development benchmarks. There are even rumors of a non-foldable, ultra-thin iPhone model in 2025.

While foldable phones are gaining attention, there’s still a hint of nostalgia for old favorites like the T-Mobile Sidekick or Nokia 9210 Communicator. For now, though, the foldable phone trend is here to stay.
