WWDC 25

Apple didn’t disappoint at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025), held earlier this week. The company revealed some big changes, from bold design updates to smarter features powered by Apple Intelligence. Let’s break it all down.

A Fresh New Look: “Liquid Glass”

The biggest reveal? A complete design makeover across every Apple device. Apple is calling it Liquid Glass, and it’s their most dramatic redesign since iOS 7 back in 2013.

So what is Liquid Glass? Think sleek, fluid visuals with more animation and translucency. Everything from your icons and widgets to your notifications will look more modern and unified—whether you’re on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or even the Vision Pro headset. It’s one seamless experience no matter which device you’re using.

Apple says the design was inspired by Vision Pro’s interface, which explains the floating, glassy look.

Goodbye Numbers, Hello Years

Apple is also changing how it names its operating systems. Instead of version numbers like iOS 17 or macOS 14, Apple is switching to year-based names starting with this next release. Here’s how they’ll look:

  • iOS 26
  • iPadOS 26
  • macOS 26
  • watchOS 26
  • visionOS 26
  • tvOS 26

It works kind of like car models—named for the upcoming year rather than a version number.

Visual Intelligence Gets Smarter

Apple is upgrading its Visual Intelligence tool, making it even more useful. Until now, you could point your camera at something and your iPhone would tell you what it is. But now, you’ll also be able to identify objects or text in photos you’ve already taken.

Snap a pic of a plant last week? Now your iPhone can tell you what it is without needing the live camera view.

Meet Call Screening, Your New iPhone Bouncer

Tired of spam calls and mystery texts? Apple’s new Call Screening feature is here to help.

It takes the concept of Live Voicemail—where you see a real-time transcript of a message—and builds on it. Now, your iPhone can intercept unknown callers and texters before they even reach you. It’ll ask for their name and reason for calling, then show you that info so you can decide if you want to answer.

It works for texts too. Basically, your iPhone becomes a personal assistant who screens messages and calls on your behalf.

Final Thoughts

From a stunning new design to smarter ways of interacting with your devices, Apple packed a lot into WWDC 2025. Want more details? You can read the full list of announcements and features right here.
