Apple has yet to officially confirm it, but rumors suggest the company is developing a HomePod with a built-in display. This feels like a natural next step for Apple’s smart speaker lineup.
Originally, the next-gen HomePod was rumored to launch in 2024 or early 2025, but respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now predicts it will hit the market in late 2025.
Kuo, known for his accurate Apple insights, shared that this new HomePod will focus more on smart home features compared to the current models. He attributes the delay to software updates, as Apple plans to integrate advanced AI technology from its other products into the HomePod. This AI upgrade could greatly enhance its capabilities, aligning it with the rest of Apple’s hardware ecosystem.
The HomePod’s screen is expected to be around 6-7 inches, possibly resembling an iPad with the ability to magnetically attach to surfaces for convenient mounting. This might lead to a complete redesign, moving away from the current pill or cylinder shape.
This development seems to be part of Apple’s strategy to expand its presence in the smart home market, which is currently dominated by Amazon’s Echo and Google’s Nest devices. With so many people using iPhones, Apple has a unique opportunity to create a seamless connection between the iPhone and the HomePod, making the smart home experience even smoother.
