New iPhone SE Set for OLED Display and Enhanced Features

Rumor has it that the next iPhone SE will see some big upgrades, including a new OLED display.

Reports from Nikkei Asia suggest that Apple has ordered OLED screens from suppliers in China and South Korea for the upcoming budget phone. This change means all current iPhones will have OLED screens, moving away from the older LCD technology.

This move also means that Sharp and JDI, which used to supply 70% of iPhone screens, will no longer be involved with Apple devices, as they don’t produce OLED panels. A few years ago, these companies provided most of the iPhone screens, but as Apple switched to OLED with the iPhone X, their role decreased, and they only supplied LCD screens for the iPhone SE. Now, it looks like their time with Apple is over.

OLED screens offer better quality than LCD, so it’s notable that even Apple’s budget phones will feature this advanced display technology.

In addition to the new display, the iPhone SE is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen, Face ID instead of Touch ID, a unique Action Button, and possibly Apple’s new AI technology. While it may have features similar to higher-end iPhones, it will likely still have a single camera, keeping it in the budget category.

These details are still based on rumors, but we should know more when the new iPhone SE is expected to be released in early 2025.
