Retro is back in style—whether it’s fashion, music, or now, video games. GameStop, the well-known video game retailer, has transformed some of its stores into retro gaming hubs, bringing back all the classics we know and love.

If you visit one of these revamped stores, you’ll find a treasure trove of old-school consoles and games for sale. Expect to see iconic systems like the NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Game Boy, Xbox, PlayStation, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and more.
GameStop is also bringing back classic titles like Super Mario Land for Game Boy, Ninja Gaiden and Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! for NES, and WWF Royal Rumble and NBA Jam for Sega Genesis.
Details are still sparse on how extensive the retro theme will be. Will the entire store be decked out in nostalgia, or will there just be a few shelves dedicated to old-school games? Is this a short-term promotion or something more permanent? GameStop hasn’t revealed much, so the best way to find out is to check out one of these stores yourself. You can use GameStop’s Retro Store Locator on their website to find one near you.
GameStop has had a rollercoaster few years. With the rise of digital gaming, the company was struggling to stay relevant until it became a meme stock sensation, thanks to the WallStreetBets subreddit—a story captured in the 2023 movie Dumb Money.
Now, GameStop is embracing its roots by offering gamers a retro experience that matches its classic vibe. Whether it’s a clever marketing move or a nostalgic nod to gaming history, it’s a strategy that feels right at home for GameStop.
