Spotify Introduces New Comment Feature for Podcasts

Spotify has been expanding its services beyond just streaming music. They’ve added audiobooks, podcasts, and social media features.

This week, Spotify announced a new way for podcast creators and listeners to connect: a comment function for podcasts.

According to a Spotify blog post, “Comments have been a long-requested feature from both podcasters and Spotify listeners. We’re excited to provide it since we’re very invested in making Spotify the best platform for all types of creators to connect with their biggest fans.”

Previously, Spotify allowed podcast creators to engage with listeners through Q&As and polls, but this was limited. The new comment section lets creators directly engage with their audience within the app, eliminating the need to use other platforms like X or Facebook. This feature aims to keep users on Spotify longer by providing everything they need in one place.

Now, listeners can ask questions or share thoughts right in the Spotify app, and creators can see and respond to those comments. This creates a direct, two-way interaction, which is a new concept for podcasts.

The comment feature is being rolled out along with a new app for podcast creators called Spotify for Podcasters. This redesigned app helps creators manage their podcast episodes, access charting info, view detailed analytics, and, of course, interact with comments.

Spotify is heavily investing in podcasts, having spent hundreds of millions to secure podcasters like Joe Rogan. Expect more features to be added to make listening to Spotify podcasts as easy and enjoyable as possible.
