Before the upcoming CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9th to 12th, LG has introduced a cool new AI robot they’re calling an “AI agent.” This robot is designed to tackle various household tasks, including looking after your pets.
Imagine a two-legged robot cruising around your house. This little helper, built with Qualcomm’s Robotics RB5 Platform, is equipped with cameras, sensors, and speakers. It uses these tools to check out what needs to be done and takes care of it. Although it has some limitations (like not being able to handle non-smart devices), it’s pretty smart. It monitors the temperature, air quality, and other environmental factors, adjusting devices accordingly.
Even when you’re not at home, this LG robot is on the job. If it detects something wrong, like an open window, a left-on stove, or unexpected motion, it sends alerts directly to your phone.
But here’s the cool part: it’s not just a machine interacting with things. It also interacts with you, the living being in the house. Thanks to software that recognizes faces and voices, it becomes both a guard and a companion. Picture it greeting you when you walk in and having a chat with you using natural language processing.
And get this – it tries to connect with you emotionally. After scanning and detecting your emotions, it might play music that suits your mood and even show different postures to express its own mood.
If you have pets, this robot is a game-changer. With its sensors and camera, it’s like a personal pet monitor and security guard. While it’s not entirely clear if it feeds your dog, the press release mentions it can help you care for your pets remotely and send alerts if anything unusual is happening.
