Patreon, the fan membership platform, is launching a chat feature that enables creators to connect directly with their fanbase through group messaging. The feature will become available to select creators initially and will gradually roll out more broadly in the coming months. While Patreon has had an integration with Discord for a while, this new chat feature offers an alternative for creators who may not be Discord-savvy.

It provides a native group messaging solution within the Patreon app, allowing creators to monetize their fanbase more effectively. However, Patreon CEO Jack Conte emphasized that the platform will continue to support its partnership with Discord. The chat feature allows creators to create four different chats, each gated to specific patron tiers, giving creators more control over their fan communities.

Fans can also customize their profiles, and moderation will initially be handled by the creator, with plans to enable creators to appoint moderators in the future.
