Google is giving its Chrome desktop browser a significant makeover in celebration of its 15th anniversary.

The redesign is based on Google’s “Material You” design principles, featuring updated icons, new color palettes, and better integration with users’ OS-level settings around light and dark modes.

The Chrome Web Store is also getting a refresh, with new categories, personalized recommendations, and safety checks for extensions. Additionally, Google is enhancing the browser’s search features, allowing users to perform Google searches within a web page and discover related searches in a Google Search side panel.

These updates will roll out to Chrome users over the coming weeks. Despite growing competition, Chrome still holds a dominant share of the desktop browser market.
